Overview
Bachelor of Industrial Engineering Technology program
University of New Brunswick – Saint John
The Bachelor of Industrial Engineering Technology (BIDT) program at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Saint John campus is a two-year post-diploma bachelor’s degree program that will open doors to graduates in a wide variety of industrial or public sectors.
The BIDT program focuses on the study of equipment, information, human behaviour and modes of communication to develop processes that work, with an emphasis on applying existing technologies to real-world problems.
Flexible, Practical Options
BIDT is a flexible, practical option for learners who wish to achieve a university degree while working in a relevant field.
Real World-Learning, Hands-On Experience
BIDT focuses on practical engineering technology and engineering management, providing graduates with a clear path into engineering technology management.
Prospective Employment Pipelines
The Saint John region has well-established oil and gas facilities, transport companies, a large hospital and a mix of heavy and light industry and large and small plants. This, combined with the education model for the BIDT program, aims to create a talent pipeline for both local and global businesses.
Forward-Thinking with Future Industry Demands in Mind
BIDT was developed in direct response to industry demands. Graduates will be equipped to address current and future challenges in the industrial engineering technology sector.
Recognized, Standalone Degrees or a Laddered Approach to Graduate Studies
The BIDT program does not lead to professional engineer (PEng) licensure, though the program and course learning objectives have been carefully designed to align with Engineers Canada competencies. Graduates will be positioned for future competency-based licensure on a case-by-case basis and will also meet the eligibility requirements to enter a master of engineering program.
